Another study taking up Francis Bacon's inspiration on the theme "The Pope Screams". One of the hallmarks of Bacon's work was a specific approach to spaces: Bacon used to frame his figures in strange, narrowly composed spaces. His figures lingered in those spaces, unharmed. My studies in the series "The Pope Screams", in a bluntly juxtaposed style, create a similar effect by virtually "cutting off" the space around the figure. As a result, the Pope appears not only screaming, but also struggling for freedom.
